Bottom Line:

Already in a deep slump for more than a year, Israel’s high-tech sector has been dealt another blow by the war with Hamas. Companies have temporarily lost many employees, including senior executives, to a massive army reserve duty call-up. Fundraising and other deal-making are being delayed amid security concerns and the absence of key executives.

Assuming that the war does not expand to other fronts, reservists should begin returning home in the next few weeks. Security concerns, however, may take longer to dissipate. A full recovery hinges on a rebounding global tech sector, which does not appear likely before the second half of 2024.
