Israel carries out strikes in Syria targeting south Damascus: government
A number of Iranian IRGC members have been killed in strikes in Syria attributed to Israel in recent weeks.
Several people were killed in suspected Israeli strikes in Syria on Monday as the spillover from the Gaza war continues throughout the region.
Syria’s official news outlet SANA reported that the airstrikes were carried out by the “Zionist enemy” at around 5 a.m. ET in an unspecified area of southern Damascus. A “number of civilians” were killed and injured in the strike, according to the outlet.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that suspected Israeli airstrikes hit a farm in Sayyidah Zaynab that housed members of the Iran-backed Lebanese organization Hezbollah and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Seven people were killed, including four Syrians. One of the Syrians was a bodyguard of an IRGC member, according to the observatory.
The observatory did not give the nationalities of the other victims.
