Several Hezbollah fighters have been killed in Lebanon amid the fighting with Israel in recent days, furthering the risk of a full-blown war between the two enemies, in a way not seen since 2006.
More than 135 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in clashes since the Israel-Hamas war started on Oct. 7, but an increasing number of targeted Hezbollah commanders were assassinated by Israel in the first week of 2024.
Just on Tuesday, Hezbollah announced that four of its fighters were killed. They are: Hassan Abd al-Hussein Ismail, from Ayta ash Shab in southern Lebanon; Muhammad Sharif al-Sayid Nasr, from Hay El Fikani in central Lebanon; Issa Ali Nur al-Din, from Burj Qalawiya in southern Lebanon; and Ali Hussein Burji, known as Abu Mahdi, from Markaba in southern Lebanon.
The Iran-backed group did not specify how exactly they were killed.
